BEIJING, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Two Chinese inactivated vaccines, including a trivalent one and a monovalent one against Omicron variants, have received approval for clinical research in Chile, the vaccine developer Sinovac has announced.
The trivalent vaccine targets the Delta and Omicron variants alongside the original strain of COVID-19, according to the Chinese biopharmaceutical company. Preclinical studies have shown that the two vaccines are safe and effective.
In the forthcoming clinical research, a multicenter, randomized, double-blind and positive-controlled method will be adopted to study the immunogenicity of the two vaccines among adults aged over 18 who have received four doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

The vaccine against Omicron variants has entered clinical trials in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, and its immunogenicity and safety data is expected this month, the company added.

The Chinese mainland on Tuesday reported 323 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 85 in Sichuan and 76 in Tibet, according to the National Health Commission's report Wednesday.
A total of 1,247 local asymptomatic carriers were newly identified. -- per Xinhua
Guiyang, the capital city of southwest China's Guizhou province, reported 301 positive cases in total, with 115 more cases found on Wednesday. Meanwhile, some tubes containing multiple testing samples are still being rechecked, according to local authorities. At present, multiple districts and counties in the city are still under static management, facing a dire situation.

Beijing reported seven locally transmitted confirmed cases on Wednesday. Five of the infections are college students from Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) in Changping district. In Haidian district of Beijing, a high school also spotted three positive cases, resulting in 570 students becoming close contacts as schools are densely populated areas.
The Disease Control and Prevention of Beijing also advocated citizens to stay in the city for the upcoming "double festivals" (the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day) and reduce unnecessary trips to other cities.
Other places like Nanjing (in Jiangsu Province), Kunminng (in Yunnan Province), Qingdao (in Shangdong Province) also sent notices to call for "staying put" for recent holidays and advise people not to go crowded places, according to the National Business Daily.
