Interesting to read. I have a question. I live in Qingdao which is a tier 2 or 3 city and I do not see any of this "Western" graveyards. Can you tell more how it goes in more rural areas?

Also I notice that in Holland where I am from it is the same with the difference on average a funeral costs 20,000 Euro. Also there no bargaining as the family is to emotional in that period.

I think the “Western” graveyards you mentioned are often placed in city fringe area for sanitary reasons, where the city dwellers have to drive for one or two hours to reach and bury the ashes. That’s probably why you can’t find a graveyard in the city😊

In rural areas, bodies/ashes are often buried locally in an open land for this particular purpose. The graves are not as “neat and tidy” as the tombs in a formal graveyard (usually only grave mounds).
